My name is Diana Kay Loeffler and I live in East Wenatchee with my husband, Tom Loeffler. We have lived here on and off since 2000. My husband has his own small business, TL Construction, and does construction, remodels and repairs.
We bought a home in East Wenatchee in 2007 and I thought about how nice it would have been, even though I had been here in the area for a few years, to have had someone take a personal interest in my settling in to the community. I received the standard coupons from businesses in a post office packet but was too busy to take much notice. Then I realized how nice it would have been to have received them from someone I could have asked questions of or discussed preferences with. The Welcoming Committee idea was born in my mind. I did a search on the internet for confirmation of the need and acceptance in other communities and found that it was an old idea that had gotten lost in the maze of direct mailings. Businesses in other cities are noting the trend to return to the personal touch and joining up as fast as they find it available in their city. I am hoping that businesses here in the Wenatchee Valley will see the advantages and join with me in this venture.
